Advantest R3172/82 Spectrum Analyzer
The R3172 and R3182 are low-cost portable spectrum analyzers capable
of performing direct input measurements at a maximum frequency 26.5 and
40 GHz respectively. Adopting newly designed RF circuitry, both the R3172
and R3182 aim for improved basic performance with their 40 GHz direct
input capability. Further, the R3172 and R3182 achieve "best-in-class"
performance for average display noise levels of -104 dBm (at 26.5 GHz,
RBW 1 kHz) and -106 dBm (at 40 GHz, RBW 1kHz) respectively, and SSB phase
noise levels of -91 dBc/Hz (at 26.5 GHz, 20 kHz offset) and -85 dBc/Hz
(at 40 GHz, 20 kHz offset) respectively.
Operating frequencies for radio communications have an increasing tendency
to shift to higher frequencies. Accordingly, the R3172 and R3182 have
been developed as personal-use spectrum analyzers capable of use in a
wide range of applications from development to manufacturing of high frequency
modules, devices, etc.
Features
- Highest-Class Noise Level
Along with the increasing variety of communication methods, the high
frequency devices and modules that affect the fundamental performance
of such communications are required to deliver higher performance.
The R3182 is a high performance analyzer with an average display noise
level of -106 dBm/RBW 1 kHz at 40 GHz.
This enables a wider relative measurement range when measuring high
frequencies or weak signals against a reference waveform.
The R3172 and R3182 also provide high performance with SSB phase noise
of -91 dBc/Hz (for R3172 at 26.5 GHz/20 kHz offset) or -85 dBc/Hz (for
R3182 at 40 GHz/20 kHz offset) by providing an internal local transmitter
with a high level of purity.
- Expansion of Measurement Frequency Band
A variety of optional external mixers are available for the R3172 and
R3182 series spectrum analyzer for measuring various high-frequency
signals. By selecting the optimum option, the measurement frequency
can be set from 26.5 GHz to 110 GHz. Since the frequency characteristics
specific to each mixer are corrected and the data is saved in the internal
memory of R3172 or R3182, the level can be read directly.
- Variety of Measurement Functions
The R3172 and R3182 are equipped with a 6 dB bandwidth filter of 9 kHz/120
kHz/1 MHz and a QP detector. In addition, an optional 200 Hz narrow
band-pass filter is available, enabling noise measurement of high frequency
bands that will be increasingly in demand in the future.
The R3172 and R3182 series support the computing functions AVG POWER
and TOTAL POWER for power measurement, and are also equipped with a
frequency counter and a preamplifier up to 3 GHz as standard, supporting
a variety of applications.
