Fluke Networks LinkRunner™
An essential, personal tool to quickly verify network connectivity and
availability
- Link - Check PC drops for connectivity, speed, duplex and segment
activity: Ethernet, Token Ring, Telco or inactive
- Length - Check cable configurations, find faults and length
- Ping - Verify connectivity to key network resources and PC NIC response
Place one in the hands of every member in your first line support team
and dramatically increase productivity and problem identification accuracy
by quickly determining if the problem is in the Network or the PC. LinkRunner
is easy to use with its simple two-button input and icon-based user interface.
Just plug it into the network or PC NIC and quickly see where the problems
lie.
Key Functions
Link - determine whether the drop is active and identify its speed,
duplex capabilities, and service type (e.g., Ethernet, Token ring, Telco).
Benefit - tells the user if the network connection is good. If
the hub speed and duplex are set correctly, if the link level is low,
and if the cable is good, port is active.
Length - check cable configuration, find faults and length.
Benefit - identifies if the cable length is within specifications,
whether it is straight or crossover and whether it has any faults, These
tests, which work for both structured and patch cables, eliminate the
need for a separate cable tester.
Ping - verify connectivity to key network resources and to determine
whether a PC NIC is responding.
Benefit - Determine whether the problem is the PC configuration
or the network.
Link Pulse - blink the hub port or PC light while sending tone
for cable location (optional Toner Receiver accessory to hear tone on
cable is required).
Benefit - Recover unused drops an find the end of drops in use.
Cable ID - identify unknown cabling paths using the optional Cable
ID by seeing which numbered plug is on the other end of the wire (optional
Cable ID accessory is required).
Benefit - Get your cable drops labeled and documentation in order.
