All Your Information at a Single Glance
Each model in the AFG3000 Series offers a large, 5.6-inch display featuring an intuitive user interface
with the same look and feel as popular Tektronix oscilloscopes. The large screen shows all relevant
settings and the graphical waveform at a single glance.
More Controls mean Less Learning.
The AFG3000 Series eliminates the need to learn or relearn the instrument each time it's used, a common complaint
among engineers. Shortcut keys provide direct access to frequently used functions and parameters. Simple menus are
used to select additional functions. Together, the large display, friendly GUI, shortcut keys, and simple menus
allow users to quickly master the instrument and perform tests with complete confidence in their signals.
Superior Performance and Versatility
Users can choose from 12 different standard waveforms. Arbitrary waveforms can be generated
up to 128 K in length at high sampling rates. On pulse waveforms, leading and trailing edge time
can be set independently. External signals can be connected and added to the output signal.
Dual channel models can generate two identical or completely different signals. All instruments feature
a highly stable time base with only +/- ppm drift per year.
Innovative ASIC Technology Significantly Advances Price-Performance
For many years, the arbitrary/function generator market has seen modest advancements, at best. However,
Tektronix has revolutionized the product category by applying "Generator-on-a-Chip" technology in its AFG3000
Series to enable to a new level of performance at value price points. The single chip delivers all the core
functionality, including direct digital synthesis circuit, waveform memory, digital-to-analog converter, modulation,
and burst and sweep. Generator-on-a-Chip technology provides a critical advantage that allows all models of the
AFG3000 Series to offer unprecedented price-performance in a compact instrument.
Easy Arbitrary-Waveform Creation and Connectivity
Tektronix makes it easy to create arbitrary waveforms. Included with the purchase of any AFG3000 Series
instrument, ArbExpress™ software is used to create and edit arbitrary waveforms on a PC. The software
is also used to import waveforms acquired with Tektronix oscilloscopes. The AFG3000 Series also simplifies
operation with a LAN link, GPIB, and USB ports on the front and back. ArbExpress™ provides a link to
control the AFG3000 Series from the MatLab command line, eliminating tedious conversion and modification.
